Welcome to Grow a Garden
Grow a Garden is a Roblox farming simulation where players plant seeds, grow crops, collect pets, hatch eggs, and trade with other players. The goal is to grow your garden empire from a tiny 3x3 plot into a massive profitable farm.
This guide covers everything you need to know as a new player.
Your First Steps
When you first join, you start with a small plot, a basic watering can, a basic trowel, and enough Sheckles to buy your first seeds.
- Buy Carrot seeds — Head to the Basic Seed Shop and pick up Carrot seeds for 10 Sheckles each
- Plant your seeds — Select your trowel and click on your plot to plant
- Water your crops — Use your watering can on the planted seeds
- Wait for growth — Carrots take about 60 seconds to grow
- Harvest and sell — Click fully-grown crops to harvest, then sell at the shop
Understanding Crop Value
Every crop's value follows a specific formula:
V = Vbase × (W / Wbase)² × Mgrowth × Menv × Mfriend
This means:
- Base Value — Each crop has a fixed base sell price
- Weight — Heavier crops are worth exponentially more (quadratic scaling)
- Growth Variant — Silver (5x), Gold (20x), Rainbow (50x) variants multiply value
- Mutations — Environmental and special mutations stack for massive multipliers
- Friend Boost — Having friends nearby gives a percentage bonus
Use our Crop Value Calculator to calculate exact values before selling.
Progression Path
Here's the recommended order for upgrading as a new player:
Early Game (0 – 100K Sheckles)
- Farm Carrots and Strawberries
- Save up for a Copper Watering Can (5,000)
- Buy an Uncommon Egg when you can (150,000)
Mid Game (100K – 5M Sheckles)
- Move to Uncommon crops (Watermelon, Pumpkin, Pepper)
- Upgrade to Iron tools
- Buy your second Pet Slot (500,000)
- Start looking for trades
Late Game (5M+ Sheckles)
- Farm Rare and Legendary crops
- Chase mutations for massive value multipliers
- Optimize your pet lineup for mutation application
- Use the Harvest Optimizer to find the most profitable crops
Essential Tips
- Always water your crops — Unwatered crops grow much slower
- Check weather — Rain waters all crops automatically, saving you time
- Don't sell mutated crops too fast — Mutations multiply value significantly
- Use the Trade Checker — Before accepting any trade, verify the value with our Trade Checker
- Upgrade your plot — More plot slots means more simultaneous crops and faster profit
- Feed your pets — Hungry pets don't use their abilities
Common Mistakes
- Spending all Sheckles on cosmetics instead of upgrades
- Selling Gold/Rainbow crops at base price instead of checking value
- Accepting unfair trades without checking values
- Ignoring pet abilities — they're the key to late-game profit
- Not using sprinklers to automate watering
